Add an item
Goal: Create an item — a product or service you sell or buy — so you can add it to invoices, orders, and stock.

Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- You’ve completed your company setup.
- Decide whether this item is stocked (you track quantity on hand, e.g. goods) or not stocked (e.g. a service).
1. Open the Item list
Section titled “1. Open the Item list”- In the search bar, type Item and open the Item list.
- Select + Add Item (or New).
2. Name and group the item
Section titled “2. Name and group the item”- Enter the Item Code and Item Name. The code uniquely identifies the item; the name is what people read.
- Choose an Item Group (a category for reporting).
- Set the Default Unit of Measure — for example Nos (each), Hour, or Kg.
3. Choose stock or service
Section titled “3. Choose stock or service”- Tick Maintain Stock if you want to track quantity on hand for this item. Leave it unticked for a service or non-stock item.
4. Set a price (optional)
Section titled “4. Set a price (optional)”- Enter a Standard Selling Rate so the price fills in automatically on sales documents. You can still change it per transaction.
5. Save
Section titled “5. Save”- Select Save.
You’re done when…
Section titled “You’re done when…”The item appears in your Item list and can be selected when you create an invoice, sales order, or purchase order.
